Hi. Will being paid holiday from employer affect my ESA?

I have been off sick for nearly 2 years. Still am, but after June 2024 I was going to lose outstanding holidays from 2022, so my employer paid me for them. I get new style ESA since January 2024. Does the payment of holidays from 2022 affect ESA? If so, how do I communicate it? Thank you.

Hey there @Melisameli and welcome to the community.

I'm afraid I don't know an awful lot about ESA, but hopefully someone will have an answer for you soon. I just wanted to stop in and give you a quick welcome.

I've also moved your discussion to the ESA category, just so more people in the know will be able to see and answer quickly. I hope that's ok?

As you’re not currently working then it will not affect your New style ESA.

Are you sure? They have paid me nearly 20 days I had outstanding from 2022, but have mentioned nothing on the payslip or done anything different than when I was working, plus they have deducted NI too, (no tax though).

Yes I’m 100% positive. If you were currently working it would be different but because you’re not then it doesn’t affect your ESA. You should report it just to cover yourself though.

Your ESA isn’t means tested so doesn’t affect it.

You’re welcome. You will need to ring them to tell them.
