Contributions based isn't part of UC. If any part of your ESA is Income Related or you're also claiming housing benefit then you will be migrated across.
Any contributions based ESA you're claiming will continue as normal but be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

Hi @johnron, welcome to the community π As Poppy says if you are on both then you will still receive contributions based ESA, but it will be deducted from any Universal Credit entitlement you receive.
You will eventually get a migration letter about migrating your income-related ESA to Universal Credit. Let us know if you have any questions about that. I can move this discussion over to our Universal Credit category π

Does your ESA include the Severe disability Premium? If it doesn't then you'll likely be better off by claiming UC anyway. This is because the LCWRA element of UC pays more than ESA Support Group if your ESA doesn't include the SDP.

Then you definitely shouldn't claim UC until you receive the migration letter. Unless a change of circumstances prompts a move in the meantime.
