Transitional protection.

transitional protection.
I’ve had to migrate to Uc from Income support.
First date of claim is 17/8/24, first payment due 21/8.
Just checked and I’m receiving way less as they have not added transitional protection. Surely this should be done straight away given I’ve not received any payments for 5 weeks.

I’ve left a message on my journal under payments but I’m really concerned why this would happen. Can anyone shed some light on this please

It's not unusual for TP not to be calculated in time for your first payment. Believe it or not most of the time they do not calculate it until just after your first payment. Glad you've put a message on your journal. It should be sorted soon.
For the avoidance of doubt and for other members reading this, your dates above do not make sense. I'm assuming the first date is a typo and should be 17/7/24?
Although your payment date doesn't match up either. If you claimed on 17/7 then I would expect your payment date to be 23rd of every month, unless it's on a weekend on back holiday and then payment will be on the Friday before.

I did amend the start date above. You are right I just checked payment is 23/8. Citizens advice told me 21/8 and I just took it to be correct without stupidly checking myself, that’s my fault.
Thank you for settling my nerves slightly knowing this is something that happens usually or not. My stomach kind of hit the floor after looking at the statement and thought why me?
Hopefully they will sort it out without too much of a fight.
Thank you again, my heart rate is starting to come down 🤣

Just an update , I’m still without transitional protection payments.
Was informed yesterday that it is normal for the majority of claims to have the first payment without. 😳
They blame income support etc for not providing them with information to calculate.
They have basically said I will get back payment but it may well take until next payment for it to be completed.
( pretty much what Poppy said but it’s apparently normal )
Unfair especially as you have to wait 5 weeks without payment but there’s not a lot anyone can do. I do believe they should make this known when you get the migration notice.

Usually it doesn't take them as long as another month to calculate it. Mostly it's all sorted within a week, sometimes much quicker than that.

that’s good to know, fingers crossed.
Thanks again for your input, it definitely makes a difference 😊
