Contact details Jobcentre/ UC journal
Hello, can anyone kindly explain or advise please. I'm having issues with DWP / UC and have been using my journal to correspond. I've also phoned UC but been referred back to using my journal. I've received a message on my journal from the Service Centre stating that 'the jobcentre will be in touch'. My question is if there is a direct phone number for 'the jobcentre'? Would this jobcentre be the same local jobcentre in my high road? I'd be very grateful if someone could kindly clarify this.

The numbers for the jobcentre plus are not for your high street job centre, they are 0800 numbers for the administrative centres. I have called in the past (in respect of ESA) and the waiting times are extremely long so I wouldn't recommend calling even if you do get correspondence from them. However, if you aren't claiming ESA then you wouldn't get a letter from jobcentreplus. If you are just claiming UC then everything is done via the journal. Have you put in a claim for ESA ?

Hi @onedayatatime. I found this which will help you find the details for your local jobcentre 😊

That just links back to the national 0800 number. There's no phone numbers available for local job centres.

Ah yes, I see that now, it only gives the address. Thanks, Poppy

Yup, I am lost in the internal loop! So 'the jobcentre ' mentioned in my journal is actually the UC people? And Jobcentre Plus is what's on the High Rd? I did ask in my journal if there was a contact number for this place called 'the jobcentre ' but just got a message saying 'the jobcentre will be in touch' 😂😂 Am I just confusing myself here? The jobcentre and jobcentre plus are two different things/places yes?

Job centre and Job centre plus are both same. You can't contact your local job centre plus directly by telephone. It's a national number.
Is there anything I can help with?

Thank you @poppy123456 . I'm just waiting for someone to contact me over some forms they said arrived late, after a deadline date. But I've got tracking evidence to show that everything arrived weeks before the deadline. At the moment one department has closed my case until they get another referral from another department. It's all going around in circles right now, frustrating, but I'm hopeful it will be resolved quickly. Communicating through the online journal is super frustrating when things could be resolved much quicker by speaking directly with someone.

You certainly are stuck in the loop @onedayatatime! I wish we could just make a phone call and get everything resolved, but I doubt they'll ever make that a possibility. Glad you've got that tracking evidence to prove you sent them in in plenty of time. I hope they get it sorted for you soon. Keep us posted 😊

Thank you @Rachel_Scope . It's certainly draining! Still no replies and it's nearing the weekend. Might as well right off the chance of getting anywhere with this until at least next week.

Enjoy your weekend @onedayatatime and try again next week. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

Just an update, it's been acknowledged that my forms arrived on time 👍 but for some reason was mishandled at their sorting/mail department 😐 It's set me back a month, but no one seems particularly bothered. For added frustration, I missed a phone call from DWP this afternoon. I immediately tried phoning back on the number but just went to an automated response to say 'check your journal'. As predicted, there's nothing on my journal 😂. I think my loop has now become a complete figure of 8. I'm not gonna stress, I'm going to eat my jacket potato for lunch, take my meds and focus on recovery from recent back surgery.👍 Everything at the moment will just have to remain a mystery 🧐

Oh blimey @onedayatatime what a pain! Could you leave a note on your journal saying sorry you missed the call? But that sounds like a very solid plan. I hope the potato had cheese and beans? How's the recovery going now?

More cheese than potato @Albus_Scope 👍😂!! I left a message on my journal as suggested. I've got to be careful because the messages I'm leaving are starting to sound a bit sarcastic and miserable. It's the boredom setting in!! But the recovery is going well, thanks for asking. I'm up and about, definitely trying to be mindful about bending and twisting. I was secretly hoping for some miraculous, instant relief from surgery, but I guess it's the slow and steady approach that's needed. Staying positive and trying my best to keep busy 🐝🐝
