Verifying children uc

Hi does anyone know if there’s a certain time scale for children to be verified on a uc claim? It will be one week tomorrow since I applied but my children haven’t been verified yet I’ve rang and been told there is no time frame and I have to wait. I’m unable to take out an advance until this is done and I’m starting to panic 😔 Tia x

It may take a few weeks for them to do this. You can ask for an advance payment now and when your children have been verified, you will be able to ask for a further advance.

do I ask on the journal? I had phoned up but was told I had to wait until the children were verified to get any advance but we are really struggling for money.

You don't have to wait until they verify your children. The advance payment will be based on your estimated entitlement so it would be less until your children are verified.

If you've had your first appointment you should be able to request it through your journal. Or you can ring the helpline to request it.

Does everyone have an appointment or is this something I have to request? It doesn’t say anything on the journal or to do list. I’ve got no clue on it all atall thanks for all your help x

I would expect you to have an appointment yes. If you can't request an advance payment though your journal then this maybe why. When you submitted your claim was your identity verified?

I would still expect you both to have received an appointment date and time Because of your commiments. I'd advise you to put a message onto your journal and tell them that no one has contacted you regarding your first appointment.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a carer for my disabled child would that make a difference? My partners held in a 3 month sick line on applying too does that change anything? Thanks again x

You should have both still had an appointment date and time.
