ESA to UC

Hello,
I haven't written in a while. I just wanted to ask I have not yet received a Migration Notice Letter. I am in the Support group for Income Related ESA. I have read that it has started this September and could take until December 2025. I am getting a bit confused as I just read in an article that it's all being done in September. It also says on Gov.Uk website updated 30th August you don't need to supply a fit note, is this true? I would also like to ask do they still do biographical ID questions if someone doesn't have photo ID at the time of UC interview?. Thank you for any replies.

Hi,
The migration notices for this group started to be sent out in September, but there are a lot of them, so they won't all be sent out within a month.
As you are in the support group of ESA, you will not need to supply a fit note. You are entitled to LCWRA from the start of the UC claim. You may have to remind UC of this by leaving them a message in the journal if they ask for a fit note.
If you don't have any photographic ID, you can provide 3 types of non-photographic ID instead. This can be things like a birth certificate, a bank statement, a bank card, etc. The biographical questions can be asked on the telephone, though they seem to need to see the claimant now, so prefer you to either visit the Job Centre with your ID, or have a home visit.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I suffer with Anxieth, depression and OCD and even though I can reason quite well with things, I still panic when I read conflicting things online as some are outdated. I just needed to know the updated situation. Thanks

That's understandable @Silver925. It can be very hard to filter out what is sensational and what is fact. And of course facts can change over time but not everywhere updates things.
If you do encounter any issues with migrating we're always here to help out 🙂
