Uni and dla
hi I am new here and extremely grateful for this forum as it has been of massive help.
I recently got awarded dla for my son- thank God for that cause I have struggle. I would like to attend university to retrain, at the moment I am attempting to complete Maths and English in order to enrol for university - the course will be full time, degree for three years. I hope to start next September at which time my baby will turn 16. What will I be entitled to please? Will dla end? Will carers end? I am truly confused as at what I will receive. I am also on Universal Credit

The DLA isn't your benefit, it's your son's so that will not be affected. Once he reaches 16 you'll receive a letter asking you to claim PIP for him. Once a decision is made on the PIP the DLA will then end.
If it's carers allowance you're claiming then this will end when you become a full time student.
As you're also claiming Universal Credit, if there's a student maintenance loan available to you then it will affect your UC even if you decide not to take that loan. You must report the changes if you become a full time student.
