Steering adaption warning.

Found out yesterday that if a car has been fitted with a steering wheel ball adapter and the person driving the vehicle doesn't have any medical issues for using one then it is illegal. If you need one on medical grounds then the insurance needs to know and also the medical condition must be added to your driving licence by DVLA.I am a named driver without medical need for steering ball so we had to have a ball that can be removed so that I can drive the car We've always had a ball fitted to the Motobility car but nobody ever told us this.
It was only due to our existing Motobility car having to be terminated and a new one ordered that the order for new car was pushed through in weeks so to save time we forewent the ball. However my wife does need one so when we enquired about having one fitted we then found out this information.
Hope this long ramble is understandable and helps to warn others about staying legal.
