GUYS today I just woke up to this amazing text!!! We have awarded you PIP. We have sent you a decision letter explaining the award. Please allow 2 weeks to receive this. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.

I have been so depressed lately and waking up to this has helped me a lot!!!

I has no assessment so I am over the moon with this!!!

Oh amazing news @ryleyyg I am absolutely stoked for you! I bet it's a huge weight off your mind now? Please try and be extra gentle with yourself as the whole process of claiming PIP is so draining on the old brain. ❤️

So I've told Mt dad about the PIP payment,

And he wants to take complete control over it... because he thinks I'm not good enough at looking after it.

Ii just don't trust it tbh

He says that he wants to speak to them so he can get it paid to him

    That's great news, well done.

Does your dad have a power of attorney, if not it's your money, life and decision.

I just don't trust him at the moment but when I keep telling him I CAN manage it, he keeps blanking and ignoring me and saying, ohh but I can apply for this I can plan and manage your money... etc I'm sorry but I'm not 6 years old

It's like he's treating me like a child which seems unfair as I don't even live with him

Ok well thankfully he can't do anything at all unless you agree to it, so just ignore him.

    No offence meant.

    I agree.

I completely am thankful for him helping me on the form, but tbh it's my money not his...not for him but for me...

Absolutely right, good on you. Also unless he was your official appointee the dwp wouldn't speak to him anyway even if he did call them.

I just outright said to him,

That I do not agree that you're treating me like a child knowing full well im not one.. I can manage it well and I will know what to spend it on.

@Nightcity I just basically sent my dad this text.

I do get what you're saying, but the PIP payment is my money and it should be paid to me.. I do appreciate the help u did on the forms, but I just feel like you're trying to treat me like a child by saying u are having full control over it,

There won't be any point in me having pip if you just take it all..

I keep telling you but I feel like you're not listening to me, that I will look after it well, I will not give it to mum, I will spend it wisely, and spend it on things I actually need that will support me.

With this payment I can help pay of my debt, get more food for the week, and use it for train travel etc.

    Bless you.

That sounds fair to me, I'm sure he'll get over it in time.

I'm sure he will, it's not your fault at all. You have every right to your money and freedom.

It's worth pointing out that the benefit is called "Personal Independence Payment" emphasis on the personal part. 😉
