Is there a topic on deputy for an adult needing help with benefits and finances?

Hi @Traceybuk there isn't a specific category for that but you're welcome to ask your question here if you'd like some help 😊 Is there anything in particular you'd like to know?

I am appointee for my sons benefits as he can’t manage them himself (no capacity), after 14 years with the same care company whom work in his supported living environment are asking for a court deputy letter. Why is the appointee not enough? He has no assets. Anyone have experience of this?

Appointees are only authorised to deal with benefit claims, administering the claim and spending the money in their best interests.

Might they be asking concerning another reason where a deputyship is more appropriate?

Thankyou for replying, I only deal with his benefits, direct payments which I am authorised to do. All his savings are in his own name. It just seems a waste of money to get a deputyship for something I am already authorised to deal with..
