Worth Reapplying after claim closed ?.

Hi,
Earlier this year I applied for ESA, I got a sick note from my Doctor which said I may be fit for work with Amended Duties. I got paid ESA and then got the Medical form and then the Medical by phone, I then got a Phone call from a Decision maker who told me I could work and just use a Wheelchair and closed down the claim.

Now a few months later the Osteoarthritis in my knee is getting worse, I am on co codamol 30/500 for the pain and have been referred to Physiotherapy and my sick note now says “You are not fit for work”.

Is it work doing another claim or just forget it ?.

Hi @dan6161. I can't see the harm in doing another claim. Is your pain expected to continue to get worse?

Hi, Yes apparantly it will get worse over time, I am also getting a 2nd x-ray done to see what the change if any has been.

Sorry to hear that. I hope there hasn't been any deterioration. You could also apply for Universal Credit. Here's some information on both benefits and the Work Capability Assessment.

Thank You. I am more concerned if the Decision Maker simply says wheel Chair again and closes it down.

You can always appeal if you're not happy with their decision. Hopefully they'll come to the right decision though. Will you let us know how you get on?
