Universal credit twins

I have 3 children, 9, 13 and 1. My 1 year old was part of a twin pregnancy. One of my twins died before birth so is registered as being stillborn. I only claim for my 9 and 13 year old as my 1 year old is my 3rd baby. After a discussion with a friend she thinks that maybe i would be entilted to claim for my 1 year old as he was still part of a twin pregnancy. Cant find any information about this online. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am sorry if this is upsetting to read but I want you to have the full information and the only way is to be direct.
There is usually an exception for a 2nd born twin, but I am sorry to say it does not apply in your situation.
For the exception to apply you would need a birth certificate for both twins which are not issued in the cases of stillbirths.
Further to this, the legislation states that for the exception to apply in cases of multiple birth, the claimant must still be 'responsible for 2 or more children born from the same pregnancy'.
This unfortunately means that you would not be eligible for the child element for your 1-year-old.

I forgot to mention, you are able to claim Child Benefit for your 1-year-old. You may already know this and already be claiming but lots of people do not seem to and think the 2 child cap applies to Child Benefit too.
