So been waiting on a second surgery for a year now and was upcoming. Unfortunately due to being homeless and in a hotel they have decided to put it on hold until things are in place and can have after care. Little deflating but obviously I get it and totally understand. Going to get me in for xrays just to make sure all is OK and then just monitor things for time being. Hopefully won't take too long and can get back on track.

@Will777 I am so very sorry your surgery will not go ahead. Fingers crossed you can soon resolve your housing situation and it can go ahead. Take care.

Hey @Will777, how are you doing just now? What sort of aftercare did they think couldn't be handled at the hotel? Is it because it's not certain how long you might be staying there for?

I will be in bed for about 9 weeks after surgery and can't cook or bathe properly after etc. I am thinking this would be easier to get help in if in my own place.

Whilst hotels should not be a problem for receiving after surgery care, because you have indicated that you may require a substantial amount of care, not just a Community Nurse to change dressings; then I would suggest that a more permanent or at least long -term residential home would be more suitable for your needs. Have you tried Social Services? Perhaps your local council's housing department might be able to help you also, especially given the circumstances. It would probably fall to Social Services to provide you with the after care in as much as Carers to assist with personal hygiene, shopping preparing (or making /serving) meals etc…

Not sure if this is of much help to you but I do hope that some solution is found for you soon.
