Talk therapy

hello, I am pre-diagnostic, waiting for my 2nd stage assessment and have had a burnout. I can’t get help for autistic adults as I’m not diagnosed as yet but have a talk therapy session for tmrw. I’m not sure how to prepare for this as I have great difficulty understanding my emotions etc. I really wanted to talk to someone who was experienced with neuro diverse issues so am unsure how to approach tmrws talk therapy session. Any advice?

thank you for confirming I used a service a couple of years back and I had a phone call appointment which I think I had it at 10 and it finished at 3 some of the stuff might be quite triggering so be kind to yourself and do something relaxing afterwards.
My appointment was only supposed to be the morning but he had another appointment at 12 so I just had a cuppa and waited until he rung back another 20 minutes later. It just took to 2 o'clock so be aware that it may take a while.
From what I gather from my own experience that they either offer you an online service/app where you have a day or time where your therapist checks in you however this isn't a 2 way conversation and you have modules you have to complete which should take you no longer than 6 weeks to complete. However if you would prefer a 2 way conversation I would recommend taking the telephone option which I didn't take so I can't comment on that experience but another member of our amazing community should be able to share there experience hopefully.

I hope your talking therapy went ok and it was helpful.

thanks, it’s still ongoing. I’m not sure if it’s helpful yet

@fnd_fibro_ed take each session as they come. Go at your own pace. It's your time to explore your thoughts and feelings. However that looks for you.
