in Universal Credit (UC)

I'm on esa .I also claim pip .do I need to wait for a migrant letter before changing over to univevesel credit. Do anybody know. Thsnkyou

    Hi,

    You don't need to wait for the migration letter.

    However, if you currently get SDP with your ESA, it is better to wait for the letter so that you get Transitional Protection and will not be any worse off.

    If you don't get SDP then you would be better off on UC so no need to wait for the migration letter if you'd rather migrate sooner.

    SDP is Severe Disability Premium, payable in with Income Related ESA, if you live alone or treated as living alone and claiming a qualifying disability benefit such as daily living PIP. No one must be claiming either Carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.
