ESA
Hi, I don’t know where to start, My daughter moved in with me in August, I informed the correct departments. Benefits, Housing and dwp. According to them nothing would change. However I received letters yesterday stating my benefits for my rent and council tax had changed and she now has quite a large portion to pay. She’s fine with that but I tried to call dwp this morning. Because I’m at the hospital every day as my brothers back in hospital. I’m finding it hard to call them. I was getting the Severe disability but housing had now said because I no longer get it the rents higher.
I would just like to know will my esa change? I currently have pip and I get a pension from my work and my ex husbands pension. I’ve attached some of the letter from housing. Thanks for reading. So stressed with life at the moment and this ain’t helping me.

They haven't deducted anything for your rent, which is correct. It says your eligible rent is £91.89/week and that's the amount of housing benefit you're receiving. I can't see anything on there that suggests you need to pay anything, unless there's information which I can't see on that screenshot.
However, I can also see a calculation of your ESA in that and it mentions the Enhanced Disability Premium of £20.85/week but because you're receiving a pension, you shouldn't be receiving that. Your pension will reduce Income Related ESA £1 for £1.
Are ESA aware of the pensions you receive? I would expect your ESA to be £138.20/week (£276.40 fortnight) due to both of your pensions. If it's any higher then it's incorrect and you need to contact ESA.
As your daughter is now living with you unless she's either registered blind or claims a qualifying disability benefit benefit herself, there's no entitlement to Severe disability Premium.
I can't advise about council tax because all local Authorities have their own rules for that.
I can also see your full name in that screenshot. Personal information isn't allowed on the forum to protect your identity.

Hi @san67, welcome to the community 😊 I can see Poppy is helping you out here, but I just wanted to let you know I've removed your personal details from the image.
Hope you can get everything cleared up soon!

hello and thanks, Just had a call from a care center near me that’s going to help with all this. I’m at rock bottom because of this and my brother being told last week he had 2 hours to live, to fighting it and is hopefully on the road to recovery. My daughter is applying for a benefit as she has issues. Hopefully these people can help. I really do appreciate the support and sorry for disclosing my name. I don’t know if I’m coming or going. Thanks

Please don't worry about your name, it's easy to do when you have a lot on your mind. A member of the scope team sorted that for you.
I'm glad you're getting some help going forward with this.

You're very welcome. Are you aware that you can refer yourself and your brother for a needs assessment from your local Authority? See link for information.

thanks and yeah, Only knew this 5 month ago after looking after him for 14 years. It’s a godsend. He gets 4 carers a day. Plus the nurse comes in to give him his insulin. But he’s never had a good break and he’s back in hospital. Hopefully he will recover in rehabilitation and get back home.
