This petition has hit a million so far.
people power can work, we may not be able to change the government but at least we can sign this petition and forward it on to others. One way of letting them know how unhappy we are with them. Hopefully they may start to listen as they are vastly becoming the most unpopular government this century beating Margret Thatcher with the the poll tax.

I've had a look around today X, blue sky, Facebook, other forums, comment sections etc.
And I've seen a lot of angry people, I don't think this government is going to be getting away with much at all, I was surprised at how annoyed people are already about the rhetoric from Starmer about us being a blight and they are not all disabled or related to someone who is either. This petition is everywhere today in droves.

The petition calls for a general election, citing dissatisfaction with the current Labour government's performance. The petitioner argues that Labour has failed to honour the commitments made during their pre-election campaign. Key concerns include policies such as cuts to Winter Fuel Payments and significant tax increases, which many view as contradictory to the promises made by Keir Starmer.
This petition reflects a growing public demand for accountability, just four months into Labour's term. While there is considerable public interest in a new election, Labour's strong majority in Parliament makes it unlikely. Nonetheless, this situation presents a difficult and potentially damaging image for the newly elected Labour party, raising questions about their ability to fulfil their promises.

It's been 4 months..there is an act of parliament called the fixed term parliament act, it can't and won't happen. Do you think the Conservatives or god forbid Reform would be any better for you, really?

I don’t think anybody thinks it will happen, it’s about Labour realising the country is unhappy about the diabolical decisions being made. They are on a crusade to tackle the benefit system next. I just thought some of you may want to sign as some of their future decisions and ones already made will have an impact on us. I certainly don’t think another party will be any better but this government has a majority thus there is no mandate (as the other parties in parliament have a small minority, Labour can pass anything through, as we have seen with the winter fuel payments)except for the people to challenge and make their voices heard.
This government is so unpopular and it has shown that it no longer has socialist values, to protect the most vulnerable in society. They are a party not for the people but for themselves, career politicians.

We won't get a general election. Only Starmer has the power to call an election. I don't want the Tories back in,as that would mean we get someone like Mel Stride in charge of the DWP.
it won't trigger an election, but i think it'll send a message that people aren't happy with Labour and it'll make them buck up thier ideas.

The petition for a 2nd eu referendum had 2.5 million signatures. Nothing happened. It's a waste of time.

StandingStanding up for something you believe in, feel strongly about is never a waste of time.
I could say getting out of bed is a waste of time since I only get back into it later.

It won’t result in a general election because the Liebour party do not care. What it will do however, is cause a national embarrassment for the party which will in turn make a huge difference to any manifesto bought in going forward. That said , it really needs atleast another 9 million on top of the 1.5m to make a real difference. It’s still gaining momentum so hopefully it will continue to grow.

It won't result in a general election because the last government passed a law making it so every parliament lasted 5 years

Tens of thousands of disabled people died due to austerity under the last government. I don't remember all of this fuss then. It's been 4 months.

Bring back Cameron! No bring back Bojo! No bring back May! No bring back Sunak! Did I miss anyone?

you can go back as far as you like even Churchill buried his head in the sand about the great smog of london that cost thousands of lives through his ignorance

You cannot put right 14 years of wrong in 4 months.

Fully get your point, but you missed Liz Truss! Fifty days of chaos, no wonder she didn’t make your list; some are still recovering from her tenure, while others have chosen to forget.

This Prime Minister is not responsible for the last 14 years nor the folly of Brexit.
Disabled claimants have been targeted, punished and harmed all that time, myself included. There are snakes in his cabinet and I doubt he is fully informed on every matter just yet.. The public certainly isn't.
MW thanks 😄

Lets just give them a chance, 4 months isn't long enough to pass judgement. There wasn't this much concern when the Tories had been in after the same length of time, from what I can remember.
