SSP and Universal Credit
Hello , I would like to know can you claim SSP and Universal credit at the same time ?
I’m currently on UC and my career break will end shortly . I’m unwell still.
My workplace have given me 2 either resign or effectively return on sick leave which is to be managed. I cannot return to my role or alternative due to my Drs advice.
My illness or injuries are purely down to the nature of my job role ( retail)
My injuries are likely to take 6-12 months to recover and treat .
Would a health dismissal happen after a period of long term illness ?
Anyone else been through something similar ?
Thank you in advance
Louise

Yes you can claim SSP & UC together.
The SSP will be deducted from UC, because it is treated as earnings.
You can use a benefits calculator to see what your UC award would look like, with SSP in payment.

Hi , thank you for your reply and information. Really appreciated. I’ll look into the benefits calculator.
