Help!
Is anyone aware of any support for the cost of going private? I'm supporting a family who's adult son needs an asd assessment so he can receive funding for a personal assistant but they cannot cover the costs. Mum is experiencing mental health difficulties and finds it challenging to be a full time carer, she is receiving income benefits. Any advise would be so appreciated! Thanks.

unfortunately, there’s no financial help for the cost of a private ASD assessment. The only other solution is to be referred for one on the NHS and the waiting times for that can be a few years.

You could try and find a local or national autism charity, they might know of any grants.
Alternatively would the private assessment provider accept a payment plan or have some kind of financing available?

Hi @Nessie6
Unfortunately there's rarely any financial support out there for adults seeking an autism assessment.
Does the son claim PIP? This may add a little bit more money to the pot of saving towards an assessment or towards paying for a personal assistant.
