Dwp sending me insane
Good Afternoon. As stated on here before, took a tribunal to get pip and lcwra, now I get a letter saying I owe 5k from a previous over payment for tax credits. I'm gutted as the money I get just about covers everything.. They said I need to call before they take a large amount each month. I appealed this back in 2016 but heard nothing.. So my question is what would be a reasonable amount to offer?..

The maximum amount they can take from your UC for overpayments is 15% of your standard UC allowance. If this will leave you in financial hardship you can ask them if they can take less but whether they will agree to this I do not know.
They can also take money you owe from any money they owe you.

Thank you Poppy. I will offer £100 and see how I get on.. You and your family have a nice Xmas.

You're welcome. If you're a single person and you can repay the debt in instalments, £100 per month is more than 15% of your standard allowance. For this reason I would stick with the 15% if £100 leaves you in financial hardship.
Thank you also and Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

So they cannot touch my PIP. Is that correct Poppy?.

As you're claiming UC then deductions for overpayments will be taken from that. Any lump sums you have then yes they can take the money you owe them from what they owe you and this includes PIP.
