hello I’ve just recently discovered this website & was wondering if anyone could help me, I’ve been submitting fit notes continuously since my first one on the 10th of September 2024, my assessment period is the 8th to the 7th of every month & my pay dates are the 14th & the 28th of every month, I had my WCA on the 5th of December 2024, I was just wondering if anyone knows when I should hear about my decision & if any backdated pay is owed. Thanks!

If the 10th September was the same date you reported your health condition then your waiting period will be as follows..

Oct/Nov, Nov/Dec, Dec/Jan.. LCWRA starts from 8th Jan to 7th Feb and first payment will be 14th Feb. No LCWRA element is owed.

If your UC includes Transitional Protection then this will erode with the additional LCWRA element is added. If you're Transitional Protection is more than £416.19/month, you will not be any better off.

Also if you claim UC with a partner who already gets LCWRA, no additional money would be paid as the maximum entitlement for a couple is one LCWRA element.

Is this your first WCA or do you already have LCW from a previous assessment?

Then based on the additional information your first payment would be 14th January, if found to have LCWRA. Assuming there were no gaps in your fit notes up until a decision was made.

thank you for the information, no there was no gaps in the fit notes at all, so there’s no back pay then? I’m still waiting on the decision

There is a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA is added to your payment.

During that time no additional money is payable or subsequently owed.

Do you think I will hear about the decision before the payment would be due on the 14th of January if I’m awarded

It's impossible to answer that I'm afraid, as timescales depend on a number of factors and it varies for everyone.

The official timescale is up to 12 weeks.

Some wait days, others wait months.

You will first be notified of the decision, then they need time to calculate your waiting period and add LCWRA element onto your claim.
