Hi, my name is drawjc! Are there any benefits I can claim to help my dwindling finances?
My wife has just been released from hospital after a near death experience. She has now been released to home but is suffering with flu and is permanently feeling cold. I am a pensioner and have lost my winter fuel payment, can't get pension credit as my wife is just under retirement age. The fuel bills are mounting to keep her warm. Are there any benefits I can claim to help my dwindling finances?

Hi @drawjc and welcome to the community. 😊
I'm so sorry to hear about your wifes trip to hospital, I understand how hard that must be for both of you. Have you looked at a benefits calculator? That may help see what you or your wife could claim.
Scope also run an Energy Support line, which could be worth you getting in touch with as well. Fingers crossed one of these suggestions will help you both.0 -
Hi,
As your wife is under retirement age, she may be able to claim Universal Credit, although it covers both of you as a mixed age couple and will take your income and savings into account too.
