ESA to UC

So as someone who received their migration letter last month and have until 21st of Feb to migrate over, how late can you leave it until putting in a claim for UC? I'm currently receiving ESA(WRAG) plus SDP so i'm not entirely sure how much better or worse off i'll be under UC.

You won't be worse off initially, as your claim will include Transitional Protection. This tops up your UC award so at the time of transfer you aren't worse off compared to your legacy benefits.
TP does erode over time as elements increase and if you become eligible for new elements.
How long TP lasts will vary from person to person as all circumstances are different.

You asked how late you can leave it before you claim UC. The answer is 21st Feb. Once you submit a claim for UC your ESA continues for 2 weeks and then stops.
