Hi, my name is Charliebing! Can my husband claim for carers element for me even though I work?
Hello please can I have advice on our current situation. I am entitled to low rate PIP and I also work. My husband works on a zero hours contract. We have recently submitted a claim for Universal Credit. Can my husband claim for carers element for me even though I work? He cooks, cleans, looks after the children (they are teenagers) and sorts out all of the financial matters. Thank you

Does your PIP award include Daily Living?
Does your husband care for you 35+ hours a week?

Hello yes it does include daily living and yes he does care for me 35+ hours a week - although the caring he does also includes looking after the children (cooking their tea etc) so is this ok? Thanks

He can care for you and the children, as long as the caring for you part is 35+ hours a week.

Thank you. Does he just add a note to his UC journal? Does he need to provide any evidence of caring? Thanks

Your husband needs to report a change (caring for someone) via his UC journal.
Log in to his UC account
Select the Report a change tab in Journal
Follow the instructions to report the change
