Lost job
Hi all,
I was made redundant on Tuesday, the company say it's due to restructuring, our some other lie. I'm 56, so not going to be easy finding another job in my profession. Don't know what I'm going to do, what is my next step, I'm so stressed

Hi @photojim I'm so sorry to read this. I've experienced redundancy before and it's a very turbulent time. But even more so if jobs aren't easy to come by in your profession, like you've mentioned. Have you been with the organisation long? Hopefully so and you've at least received a decent redundancy package.
There's a couple of support options that come to mind. The first is careers advice. I've added contact details including a link to their website below. I've added this because you mentioned it might be difficult to find a job in your present profession and they might help to review your skills, and look at alternative options. Details below:
Speak to an adviser: Wherever you are with your decisions, you can contact us to get advice from a careers adviser. Call 0800 100 900 or use webchat to talk online. Website: Careers advice - job profiles, information and resources | National Careers Service
The second is Citizen's advice are a great charity too. They offer advice on a range of things including work, and the financial side including guiding you on how to claim support available from the Gov. such as Jobseekers allowance. I'd suggest making contact with them to arrange a time to talk everything through. Website: Citizens Advice
I hope you secure something soon. But make sure you take care of yourself in the meantime. If you're struggling with worry, it's definitely worth speaking with your GP as they may be able to provide some support. I appreciate it's a big adjustment but hopefully once you've talked it through with a specialist so to speak, that'll put your mind at ease a little.
Best wishes,
Holly.

Here at Scope, we also have a support to work service which might be helpful. I've added the link below where you can sign up on the website for this service.
