Hi I am abit confused with this uc I dont know what to do for the better it's stressing me out my hubby gets carers allowance for me im on pip with the premium and mobility allowance thing I get contribution esa plus they say I get abit income based esa they give me housing benefit I also recieve a private pension of 237 a month im in a support group I dont know to move or stay where I am as frightened incase I dont get all my allowance I have read that they are not giving the right money and worse off I am just wondering what I will lose if I dont move over

I wouldn’t expect your ESA to include much Income Related top up because of your Pension because this reduces Income Related ESA £1 for £1.

If you don’t claim UC then your housing benefit will stop 2 weeks after the date you should have claimed UC by.

Your pension, your husband’s carers allowance will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

Your contributions based ESA will revert automatically to New style ESA and this will also be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

You won’t be worse off at the time you migrate because if entitlement to UC is less than your current benefits you will be entitled to Transitional Protection.

You will very likely be worse off if you don’t claim UC because you would not longer receive help with any rent.

Hi poppy thank you for your reply I'm struggling to get my head round it all I was worried incase I'm worse off claiming uc

My husband gets carers for looking after me

It states a get basic contribution realated esa i rang them this morning and they said i am in LWCi get my private pension plus pip daily living enhanced pip daily mobility enhanced then says esa support related component iv been in the support group for years i was extended my pip award till 2028 when i was to be reassessed in 2025 but didnt have to go for another assessment will I have to do this all over again if I move ? With my pip going for assessments again Will I loose all my enhanced parts ? Sorry to be a pain but I carnt digest stuff I will have to show this to my hubby to explain really slowly if I dont migration to uc the only thing i will loose is housing benefit and council tax benefit i am really worrying incase they take me off all my pip stuff my esa gets paid fortnight which helps alot people saying the get paid monthly with uc and have waited weeks for payment and they have to be reassessed on the uc going down job centres is this right

The UC process has no impact on PIP.

Your first UC payment would be just over 5 weeks from when you apply.

Housing Benefit and any Income Related ESA carry on for two weeks after you apply, and won't be deducted from your UC payment.

You might be requested to attend the Job Centre once to confirm ID & commitments, but this can usually be done via a combination of telephone appointment and online UC account (called the Journal).

Your ESA SG status carries over giving you the UC equivalent (LCWRA) automatically although it takes a few weeks for ESA to send your details across.

Thanks for your reply my head has been in bits worring about it all I'm not sleeping it's just so worrying incase you move and are worse off

You can't be worse off by claiming UC because when you migrate across if the figures say you're worse off then Transitional Protection will be included so you're not worse off when you migrate.
