Carers element UC
Hi everyone,
We claim UC as a couple, I have LCWRA , we get the carers element in our UC payment as my wife cares for me. She only works 12 hours per week which is well within our work allowance for UC, but they have a meeting at work on Friday and it looks like the place of work will close.
As her age is probably against her getting another similar type of job, could she claim the actual carers allowance and still receive the carers element on UC or are they both the same.
We both receive Pip both standard daily living and standard mobility.
Thanks for any help

Yes she can get both Carers Element and Carers Allowance.
Carers Allowance will be deducted in full from your UC award, so no financial gain to claiming although it will give your wife a higher class of NI Contributions and it can be paid weekly.

Hi,
There would be no financial benefit to her claiming Carers Allowance because it would be entirely deducted from your joint UC payments.

Thanks, @Kimmy87 and @OverlyAnxious that will be helpful knowing that info.
Take care
