hi I got awarded LCWRA on 22/11/2024 and ofcourse I need too wait silly 3months assessment period, but my assessment period ends on 22/03/2025 or my next statement on the 7th march for my payment on the 15th march but I can’t see this statement and they are telling me that I am not getting any backdated money, but I’ve had too wait for over 3months for my monies too go up so it doesn’t make sense for this not too be backdated, I thought the 3month assessment period gets backdated ?

Hi @kencokeir Welcome to the community. Yes, unfortunately there is an assessment period of 3 months, and typically payments are backdated to 3 months after your initial fit note submission. You can appeal this though. I've added a link to an area on our website which might be helpful. There's a section on backdated payments and some helpful advice and links - Understanding Universal Credit payments | Disability charity Scope UK
If you choose to appeal, I wish you the best with this process. 🙂
Best wishes,

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in.
No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
What date did you report the health condition?
What date was your first Fit Note?
Were there any gaps in handing in Fit Notes, any that were backdated etc?
Do you claim with a partner who gets LCWRA, have Transitional Protection on your claim or receive Carers Element in your name?
Finally what is your UC assessment period or payment date?

I severed my Achilles heel in September and made them aware in October put my first sick note in October, and they are stupidly asking me for sick notes before September I only injured myself in September, I was awarded LCWRA on 22/11/24 I was awarded 14months LCWRA and they are saying I won’t receive any LCWRA until April and no backdated payments, they have took me off carers and gave me less money since I’ve been injured so basically I’m injured and get more monies but I need too wait to get paid more monies and struggle until I get these more monies and it just doesn’t feel right because I was told it typically gets backdated and this made sense as I’ve had too wait so yes I’ve had too struggle with less monies for since I’ve been injured, awarded more monies because my injury and also now mental health too, and now being told there isn’t a backdated payment there

My partner is the same he is not getting a backdated payment. He started putting sick notes in to uc in July 2023 and they kept saying they hadn't received his work capability assessment form then he finally had an appointment on 9th December and was told on 11th January it had been awarded.but that would go from assessment date in his case of the 9th December. Don't understand why.. and his December payment was assessment period of 20th November to 19th December but wasn't on his December payment he has struggled for over a year for their mistakes. Amy idea why x
