Transitional protection question ESA and uc

Hey folks. Hope you can assist me.

I am a legacy benifet receiver and get e

Cont based ESA with disability premium. I haven't yet received my letter to move. And was happy awaiting it just.

But I have to move to a new home due to my disability and care needs. So will this trigger a move to UC? And if it does will I still get transitional protection?

    A few questions:

Are you currently receiving Housing Benefit?

Are you moving to an address in the same local authority area?

Are you moving into sheltered or supported housing?

What is your ESA group please and is it the Severe Disability Premium you receive?

I get contribution based ESA and am in support group have current award till 2030. Yes same local authority. And it's a bungalow with access but not sheltered or assisted. I get the severe disability premium. Not the legacy one the add on to ESA one.

As it's a change of address within the same local authority, it won't trigger a move to UC. You would just contact HB with your new address and rent amount, for them to update your claim.

May I give you some information about what will happen to your ESA when you do migrate?

Surely I have to inform ESA about my address change tho? Incase they send me communications etc jn post.

Obviously I would love it if I could delay the transition untill the letter came. But equally if I don't inform them. I won't get it. It would go to my old house and I don't want to be telling lies etc.

Yes you'll need to let ESA know your new address too.

Sorry for any confusion, I was asking if you wanted some information about what will happen to your ESA when you do receive a migration letter.

It's a more complicated process when you get both types of ESA.

Yes but what I wanted to know is. Will updating my address with ESA trigger the migration process. I read any change of details or information will trigger a move to UC. And if this happens. Do I get transitional protection

Changing your address with ESA will not trigger a move to UC.

In your circumstances only a move to a new local authority area would trigger a move to UC.
