Lcwra

hiya I handed my fit notes in since last August. I’ve had no gaps in them. I filled my assessment form in in October. I had my assessment on 13/01/2025 & just been awarded it today 6/3/25. How will my payment work? & will I get any backdated? My payment dates are 3rd of every month so will I get the payment then? I’m confused

What date did you report the health condition?
And what date did you hand in your first Fit Note please?

my health conditions were reported from last may & my first fit not was uploaded in August last year

I do need exact dates in order to advise you further.

my health problems were reported on 15th may 24 & I uploaded my first fit note on 3rd August last year.

Thank you, sorry for all the questions, do you receive Transitional Protection on your UC claim, or claim jointly with a partner who gets LCWRA themselves?
0 -
no it’s single claim & I don’t know what transitional protection is?
0 -
Transitional Protection will be listed on your payment statement if you get it (not everyone does).
0 -
no I’ve not seen that?

That means you don't get it then, I don't either 🙂
LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
My estimate of your timeline:
July/August: Partial Assessment Period, not counted for waiting period
August/September: AP 1
September/October: AP 2
October/November : AP 3
November/December: Eligible for LCWRA element.
3rd January: First LCWRA element paid
By my calculation you are owed 3 months LCWRA element.
If LCWRA element is not on your next statement then 4 months will be owed.
Money owed will be calculated separately and this usually takes several weeks at least. You'll know this has been done when a letter is added to your Journal confirming the amount they owe you.
You'll then receive the money into your bank account several working days later.
Once everything has been processed, you will see LCWRA element (£416.19) on your payment statement each month. From your May statement it will increase to £423.27.

thank you 😀

I’ve just looked back. My health conditions were uploaded 23rd January 2023

Thank you, the waiting period begins from the date of the first Fit Note, so my previous advice is still correct.

hi everyone, is anybody able to help me please, I gave my 1st sick note was for 12 weeks to uc on the 18th/nov/2024, followed by another 12 week fit note (no gaps)
My uc assessment periods are the 24-23 each month, my first question is, if I am eligible for the LCWRA what back payments could I expect? If any?
second question I had my phone assessment today and was on the phone for 70mins is this would you say a good or bad thing or could be either? Lady seemed very kind and calm with me which helped my anxiety. Appreciate any replies0 -
What date did you report the health condition?
Do you have Transitional Protection on your claim, or claim with a partner who gets LCWRA themselves?

I reported health condition when applying for uc, health has deteriorated since, reported first sick note 18th nov 24,
My assessment periods are 24-23 of each month.
Don’t have transitional protection and no I don’t claim with anybody else.

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
This is my estimate were you found to have LCWRA.
October/November: Partial Assessment Period, not included for LCWRA waiting period.
November/December: AP 1
December/January: AP 2
January/February: AP 3
February/March:Eligible for LCWRA element
30th March: First LCWRA element paid.
Assuming the decision and/or processing time isn't done in time for your March statement, UC would owe you one month LCWRA element.
Money owed is calculated and paid separately. You'll know when this has been done as a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed. Payment will arrive several working days later.

Hi all, I'm new to this site so thanks to anyone who answers but I also have a question about this.
I was put onto lcw over 2 years ago and my review was last July. Although I queried it I was recently told that the review went through and they just left me on this... didn't even speak to me so not sure how they did this.
Since then my health has declined significantly and the lady I speak to at uc said I really should be on lcwra. She chased up and i was sent out review form which I completed and sent back end of December.
Apparently they have a back log and no idea when my review will actually take place. I am losing out on 400 a month while they drag there feet. Will this be back dated as its not a new claim? Feel like I'm in limbo tbh.
Many thanks
V

If you reported a worsening change in health AND are submitting Fit Notes alongside, LCWRA would be backdated to when you made that report.
If the DWP initiated the review, a LCWRA decision backdates only to the Assessment Period in which that decision is made.
I really don't know what happens if you report a change but don't submit Fit Notes. I've seen lots of people ask the same but no one ever seems to know the answer.

I reported change way back last year. My work coach initially asked me to get fit notes again which I did however when I spoke to her next mentioned there was no where to upload/send them to. She said doesn't look like it's needed. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now. Just wait? Get more fit notes? Even my work coach has no idea either. It does seem they make things as complicated as they can. T
