Hi from Matt + advice on ADHD/Autism assessments>

Hi, I am joining the Scope community on advice of a kind call handler I spoke to today. I have fibromyalgia, complex trauma and awaiting further investigation of neurodivergence (on long NHS waiting list).
Does anyone have experience of going private for autism or ADHD assessment, and if so which providers/organisations are trustworthy and reasonably priced? I live in North East London, can travel by car and would highly prefer to go to an organisation with understanding of trauma who will be validating and thorough.
Without support I am really struggling to stay afloat with work, life and physical health and my mental health is impacted a lot. I have had the respective neurodivergent traits lifelong as far as I recall.

Hi @Matt_RoMotion I am 52 and waiting for ADHD assessment under a right to choose referral as the Sheffield NHS wait list is 2000 years…I s**t you not!! This takes longer but if you go private there is assessment costs then titration of any meds. Your GP may not accept to take on your meds which means paying privately for meds cost and doctor costs each time you get a prescription. You need to discuss with your GP first, unless you are minted and can afford private of course.
