Hi, my name is Ruby. On the verge of leaving my job due to ill health, any advice?

I’m on the verge of leaving yet another job due to my ill health and I think the stress of the job is making me worse. I have long Covid, asthma and struggling with menopause. I went part time in the hope of keeping working but spend every hour I’m not working in bed resting or sleeping. I’m at my wits end and so sick of my self. I’ve never claimed benefits ( worked for 37 years and own my own home in last year of paying off mortgage ) The benefits system js so complex and I can’t see me getting anywhere. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Hi @Ruby71, Welcome to the community. I'm really sorry you're struggling so much with work. I've definitely been there too with previous jobs and it can feel so awful to spend all your "spare" time recovering then doing it all over again. It can be really disheartening to live like that, so I totally understand that you're feeling at your wits end.
Have you ever used a benefits calculator to see what you might be entitled to?
It can be really daunting to start a claim if you've never used the benefits system before, so if you're not sure where to start, speaking to a benefits advisor or Citizens Advice can be really helpful:
I hope things start feeling easier for you soon.
