Hi ,

Hope you all are well

My husband is an active member on scope and have spoken highly of this forum and asked me to start off a conversation . He has long-term conditions and disabilities and in receipt of PIP . He used to receive LCWRA but is currently going through hell as he was asked to re-apply for a full blown work capability assessment following a closure of our UC claim. He awaits a reassessment

I have been receiving carer’s allowance which as everyone knows gets deducted from our UC anyways . With careful discussions as a family, and as are struggling for finances as a family , including our 7 year old child to cope with the payments that we currently receive , I decided to apply for a full-time job and have just received my unconditional offer and been booked on induction for May 2025 following which I will get a start date from my line manager. As we are currently on nil income , we also get a discounted council tax , free nhs prescriptions and a discounted tariff rate on water bill . My starting salary in this new job is £24071 per annum, which I understand is going to be significantly higher than the DWP allowed amount. I have already made an early notification to DWP CA unit via the DWP online reporting system and will update the exact start date once I get this from line manager nearing the time . Due to significant past events with the DWP, we have lost trust hence we are doing things as early as possible and keeping all evidences should we need to challenge them at later stage.

As we are also in receipt of the council tax discount , water bill reduced tariff and free nhs prescriptions, I am aware they might need notified too. I am also worried if we would lose the monthly UC carers element of £198.31 every month once I start my job😔. I am yet to notify them and will do so following advice from the people here

I would like to know if anyone has got any advice or experiences relating to my scenario , this would really help me understand how all of this works and offer some assurance .
I am one of those people who is very anxious and like all of you worried about what would happen in the future with carers allowance by the proposed evil plans by the government.i get very scared when any letter drops on our door mat, especially brown in color.

I also like to apologise to all as I am not a great writer , public or a forum person due to my own history of MH issues , Dyslexia and past significant DV experiences .sorry for the long message .I’ve always stayed away from such things. So please be gentle with me . My husband is the most kind , positive and generous person I have ever come across in my life and unfortunately it is so sad to see him as he is now as he worked so hard when he was able to provide us comfort and everything . He has motivated me to go to work and although this may have knock on benefits, he said my mental health will be better. I have worries how he will cope without my help but he said he will cope as long as I set up everything for him before work and after I come from work. I also have one family friend and kind neighbours who have kindly agreed to check on him on time I will be away without expecting any money .

Thank you all in advance

Love to you all during this difficult time for disabled people families and children.
