Query re LCWRA and transitional protection

Hi all, my sister was on JSA and received the severe disability premium. I completed migration paperwork and she was put on UC from January. I was advised to apply for LCWRA and she was just awarded this. Her transitional protection was £625 on top of her UC. I now understand the LWCRA is £435 - almost £200 less. Does this mean her payment is now UC + LWCRA= £835 instead of the £1019 she was getting previously. I am very confused about all these rules and we were told her payments wouldn't change when we migrated to UC. Thanks in advance for any help. I have read other posts but it involves carers payments which doesn't apply to us. Thank you for your help.

I'd heard somewhere that people who migrate are protected under Regulation 19. Someone else here will hopefully know what that means exactly. Sorry I can't be more precise and best wishes to you your sister.

Transitional Protection is designed so at the time of transfer you aren't worse off than on legacy benefits. This erodes over time. Any increase in other elements, or addition of new elements reduces TP by a corresponding amount.
Her award will still be £1019 but made up differently.
Instead of £625 TP, she will receive £423 LCWRA and £202 TP.

Thank you both so much. I have been looking at what to cut back on in anticipation of a cut I was expecting. This is a relief. It's quite complex trying to work these things out. I was getting a headache.

Hi @Maysie2025 just wanted to pop and say welcome. ☺️ I can see you've had a response from a few members so I won't add anything more.
