i got until the 16th if April to prove my identity to UC from the migration, i got my ID then messaged them on the 11th of April to request a home visit to show my ID and they responded back on the 18th saying they requested a home visit referral and my assessment period has ended I missed the deadline because of them, does this mean I need to restart a claim?

Everyone has to go through the ID period just to verify it is actually you, I'm not sure why we have to coming from the migration

It's because all claims to UC are treated as new claims, even when migrating. So everyone has to prove ID.

It says People transitioning to Universal Credit (UC) from other benefits undergo ID verification to ensure the right person is linked to the claim and to combat fraud. This process helps confirm the claimant's identity and links their details to the claim accurately. Additionally, it's a requirement to maintain eligibility for transitional protection, a safety net for those migrating to UC.

You don't need to restart your claim, they will contact you with a home visit appointment.

So sorry for the confusion but thank you you've been helpful but do you know why they would say the assessment period has ended but still requested a home visit? Is it to do the id reassessment there?

Each monthly UC payment is based on your circumstances for the previous calendar month, known as the Assessment Period. The AP happens every month on a continuous rolling basis.

You haven't verified your ID yet so are awaiting the requested home visit to do so.
