Care payments

Hi I’m really struggling to get my head around the benefits system.
Im in recent of u c , lcwra, pip standard rate my partner gets u c lcwra so only one of us gets the lcwra . If he applies for carers allowance as he’s doing every thing for me now does it reduce any payments .

Carers Allowance is separate from UC and deducted in full from your UC award, so no financial gain to claiming.
Carers Element is a UC element that your partner might be able to claim for looking after you.
Which person gets paid for LCWRA on the claim?

Thank you for your reply. My partner gets the lcwra

That is a shame. The same person cannot get Carers Element and LCWRA. Only the higher amount is paid which is LCWRA.
So he cannot get any extra money for acting as your carer.
You could consult a trained benefits advisor to see if it's possible to swap who gets the LCWRA paid, he could then claim Carers Element.
