hello, I am a widow of 4 years now and disabled … I need to exercise as so unfit! But as my legs and hips object strongly to moving and holding me up I need advice on what to do to build up my upper body!

Chair based exercises where you are sitting throughout would be good for building upper body strength.

Hi @marcol, welcome to the community 🙂 Have you contacted your GP? If not, it might be worth reaching out to them as they may have some helpful options to help.

Hi my user name is power . Hi marcol I have the same problem as I have been told by my doctors the I need to keep my core muscles strong but have found it difficult to have access to gym and exercise classes that are accessable for my disabilities. You can access open age where they offer chair base . Falls prevention groups for 50 plus. Or ask your doctor for a prescription for exercise they should be able to help you at your council ran sport centre . Also acqua aerobics is I found the best around exercises if you have mobility disabilities . Hope this is helpful
