Re anxiety at work
Hi, I just wanted to share how things were going at work regarding my anxiety.
The anxiety has reduced a lot now since my last post but I struggle with social anxiety quite a bit as I struggle to talk to people and go towards them to ask for help instead of calling them out loud. I also struggle to initiate conversations, talk in groups and make small talk.
My manager is aware of my anxiety and I was quite worried as my brother who works there told me that his friend who meant well told me that wouldn't I struggle on the phones due to my anxiety and being very quiet.
I have always been like this and I could cope on the phones at capita even though I didn't really initiate conversations and didn't speak much with colleagues.
I think I would settle in eventually as I was told that people were surprised how fast I was on the admin side of tasks. I haven't been on the phones yet but when I do I will be booking appointments for patients which is pretty simple so I'm not too worried.

Hi @lydia5683, sounds like you're doing really well so far ☺️ it's great that you've been excelling at the admin, I'm sure they really appreciate your skills.
Hope everything continues to go well when you start working on the phones.

It is great that you have followed up on your initial post to let us all know how you have been finding things.
It will take a little time to fully settle in but so far everything sounds very positive and I am so pleased for you.
Individuals are just that…individuals, with strengths and weaknesses and different ability levels at all stages of employment, or life in general, nobody is perfect so you should take it as a positive thing that others have picked up already on how good you are at the admin side of things. It’s great that you have had some positive feedback so soon.
Just remember that it’s natural for most people to be nervous when confronted with something new so never feel that you are the only one.
Hoping you are feeling happier in yourself.
Take it easy
Scott
