Hi everyone, I’m Gloucester_Lad – new to the community!

I’ve just joined the Scope community, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia at the age of 6, during junior school. I had some support back then, but when I moved into secondary school, that support stopped—staff believed I didn’t need it anymore. Later, in Year 8, I was also diagnosed with Epilepsy, and I’ve been on Carbamazepine since then.

Explaining both conditions at work has been a challenge over the years. I work best at a steady pace, but I’ve often been pressured to work faster—even when it affects the quality of what I’m doing. My dyspraxia mostly affects my balance; I’ve never been able to ride a bike despite trying, and although I’ve driven in the past, it didn’t work out due to difficulties with processing multiple things at once. These days, I prefer walking over public transport whenever I can.

A bit about me: I’m into Astronomy, Science Fiction (big fan of Doctor Who and Star Trek!), Computer Games, and more recently, I’ve developed a real passion for 3D Printing, which has replaced Photography as one of my main hobbies. I also enjoy walking and swimming in my free time.

I currently work in retail and hold NVQ Level 1 and 2 qualifications in Business Administration. Although I was once told I wouldn’t be able to get a job in admin, I’m still working and exploring options. My long-term goals are to move into full-time work, ideally in something like IT Support or a work-from-home role, and eventually start my own 3D printing business and live independently.

Looking forward to getting to know others here and joining in on conversations. Thanks for having me!

Hey there @Gloucester_Lad it's a big warm welcome from me too! It's always nice to see another gamer here. So which 3D printer are you using at the moment? 😊

Hi @Mary_Scope and @Albus_Scope, thank you so much for the warm welcome to the community! 😊

Right now, I’m using an Anycubic Mega X 3D printer, but it’s currently at my friend's house since I don’t have enough space at my place. I get to use it every couple of weeks when I can. I’ve tried my hand at a few things—mainly small projects like tealight candle holders and a vase, nothing too big yet.

A while back, I also printed some Christmas ornaments, including a few Joyeux Noël decorations for my parents' tree. Looking forward to learning and creating more!

Oh lovely, so you've gone the filament route? Nice! It sounds a lot easier and cleaner than the resin option haha. I won an Elegoo Saturn 4 a few weeks back, so I've been spending a lot of time wearing a gas mask in my shed. 😆

I do love the creativity of the filament prints, you can do so much with them. What would be your dream print?

Wouldn't think my friend would let me in his house if I had the Elegoo 😂 @Albus_Scope and hmm, that's a tough question since I actually have a few dream prints but if I could pick one, it would definitely have to be a life sized model of the Tardis, depending on if I had the room for the Tardis in my bedroom. 😉

They are very stinky" But I like to think my Elegoo is great as it was free, so that makes up for a lot. 😂

Oh wow, that's a catch 22 situation, you want to print a Tardis, but you'd need a Tardis to be able to fit it in. That would be such an amazing project though.

Yes, it certainly would be an amazing project to do piece by piece for sure. But, if I have the money I'd go with the non-3D printed one, one day. 🤞
