Car hoist for powerchair

Just wondering if anyone can offer advice here?

I'm looking to get a powerchair, but after a discussion with an advisor at a mobility shop today, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed as there seem to be so many things to take into consideration before buying one.

I would need a hoist to get it into the boot of my car, but the lady at the shop didn't seem to think that hoists are suitable for powerchairs. However, my cousin has one for his powerchair. Would it need to be a specific type of hoist?

@egister I certainly do. I'm going to try and visit a place that specialises in fitting hoists next week, so hopefully they can help 🙂
