Disapointment

So, I got 2 letters today which really disappointed me.

The first letter in a dreaded brown envelope was a letter from Speech Therapy telling me that they are not taking on new onset stammering cases in Adults. It is a new symptom possibly due to Fibromyalgia but could be anything that I already have. They suggested on line support groups with other sufferers or face group groups. really not good enough. There is no help for so many of my conditions and this just annoys me.

The second letter was the dreaded decision letter from my PIP review which they did as a paper review. I am sure they just used my original claim information. I got help filling in the form and they ignored ALL of what was said and kept the decision the same - standard daily living and no mobility. I CAN'T walk 20 metres but they put that I can walk but they said I can walk up to 200 metres 4 points. We told them I can't walk but they ignored it. I can't cook a meal but only got 2 points, I can't bathe myself or wash my hair but got 3 points. So I shall have to go through the whole stress of an MR and possibly Tribunal again. They ignored everything and I am sure they did it so that I would lose PIP in the proposed changes (though that is apparently changing for us)

Alongside all the stress of the proposed changes and the wait for the decision has had a really detrimental affect on my physical and mental health (worryingly so but getting help). I am just so demoralised and sad. Life is already so tough without having all the unnecessary stress on top.

Thanks for reading.

sorry to hear the disappointing news Kitmum.

    Can I ask…

Which version of the review form did you receive?
was is the Light version or the AR1 version?

Did you send all the original evidence with your review?

When did you post the review form back to them, and when did you receive a response?

Try to stay positive and keep smiling if you can

@kitsmum I am sorry, that is so disappointing to hear from both a negative. I feel for you.

It's closing time at all offices so wondering if you are able to go forward with your weekend as nothing can get changed right now? It's horrible feeling sad and exhausting thinking of the work to come to get what you need. It's tiring having to fight for things I find.

I hope you might have something that you can do to feel better today?

    To answer your questions:

It was the AR1 version which was submitted in October last year and the award letter was dated 21 July.

I submitted new information to support the further decline in my health and the old information.

I have contacted Age uk who helped me fill in the review paperwork(actually they filled it in) and they were lovely and so helpful. They will fill in the mandatory reconsideration paperwork and if the result is still not correct then they will refer me to a community law firm who will fill in the tribunal paperwork. This is more than I had last time when I did it all myself not realising I could get help..

Unfortunately after I received those 2 letters I went to a GP appointment and got even more bad news so life is very trying to say the least.

Trying to be positive but it is so hard.

    Thanks for responses

Hi @kitsmum I'm so sorry. That's a lot to process all at once so it's completely understandable the impact it's had but it's good that you've reached out for some support. I hope you're feeling a bit better today.

I appreciate it's not the same as speech and language therapy services, but there is some support available through STAMMA. Here's a link to their website if you wanted to take a look (and haven't already) - STAMMA.

I really hope that you're successful with your mandatory reconsideration.

    Best wishes,

    @Holly_Scope

Thanks for the response. I have had a look at Stamma and have asked to join the support group.

With regards to my Mandatory reconsideration I have had a call from Age UK and they are going to fill in the form for me and will refer me to a community law firm to fill in the tribunal should that be needed and represent me. So, it is looking a little more positive. Also my really good friend from church is going to be with me when I speak to Age UK in case the stammer is too bad and I can't get the words out. We shall prep answers before hand that I can point to and she can read them out for me.

Hi @kitsmum Good, I'm really pleased that you've managed to make some progress today. That's lovely you have a friend there for support. They're the best aren't they ☺️
