Hello, I was awarded LCWRA at the beginning off June 2025, I have been absent from work since the 2nd February 2025 with sick notes logged on to my journal and accepted, however a case manager has told me I have to wait until October 2025 for the first health element part off the UC, as there is a three month waiting period, is it not the case the three month waiting period starts from when the first sick note is submitted, not after the award has been given. I have raised a mandatory reconsideration on my journal, they have told me it will be up to 5 weeks for a decision to be made, can anyone confirm how the 3 month waiting period is processed
Many thanks

Hey there @Ajaymes and welcome to the community.
You're correct, the LCWRA component should be paid three full payment cycles after the fit note was submitted, so I'm unsure why they're saying from the assessment date. Hopefully the MR will show they've made an error.1 -
Hi,
Were all of your fit notes consecutive right up to the date of the assessment with no gaps in between?

Hello, yes all consecutive no gaps, the DWP case manager told me the waiting period is 3 months after the award which as I've found out is wrong

Hey @Ajaymes it would appear they are incorrect. It may be worth linking to the Gov.co.uk website, where it clearly states;
"8.2 LCWRA: when you’ll get extra money
If your WCA decision is LCWRA, you’ll usually get the extra money 3 monthly assessment periods after you started submitting medical evidence (such as fit notes) showing that your condition limits how much work you can do."0 -
Thank you
