Universal credit lcw
Hi, sorry if this is the wrong section. So my partner is on limited capability due to mental health. We were only migrated from ESA to UC less than two months ago.
I have found a job, however my partner who I care for , who cannot leave the house without me etc is being told that even though he is on lcw and has complied and started an online course to help him "prepare" for future although his condition is going on 20 years now, the work coach told him they would be moving him into finding work soon? And that he should be doing confidence courses so that can happen?! ....as if a online confidence course is going to make a long term condition just disappear.
But surely if he has been assessed as limited capability and he is taking part in trying to better himself academically through online courses which is what we were told is all he would need to do. But for them to now say he will be being moved into work when the lcw is still in place , is this even legal?
Sorry I hope that is clear enough, thank you

Limited Capability for Work means he needs to engage with his work coach to do work preparation activities.
They can't force him to apply for jobs and he can refuse without sanction.
If he wanted to try for Limited Capability for Work Related Activity (LCWRA), he needs to report worsening health alongside submitting continous Fit Notes to get a new Work Capability Assessment.

Heya @pumpkin25 and welcome to the community. 😊
As Kimi has said, LCW means your husband will still have to attend "work related activities" Kimi has left some great links to check out, so I wont get in the way any more now.0 -
Hi, thank you both for the advice. We are aware he needs to take part in work related activities, it's just that the work coach said to him he will be moved into looking for actual work soon. Which did not sit right with me, so just wanted to know where we stand on that .
The links are very helpful, thank you
