Are you an autistic adult in the UK or Australia who has volunteered for at least 6 months?

You are invited to take part in a research study exploring how volunteering influences the identity and wellbeing of autistic people.

What does participation involve?

  • A one-off 45–60 minute interview (or two shorter interviews, held 1 week apart, if you prefer). You can choose a text or video interview—whatever feels most comfortable for you.
  • Reviewing your interview transcript (and optionally, reviewing a 1-page summary of initial themes from your interview) to provide feedback and ensure you are happy with your responses and have been understood.

You are eligible if you:

  • Are clinically (ASD1 or ASD2) or self-diagnosed as autistic
  • Are 18 or older
  • Live in the UK or Australia
  • Chose to volunteer for a period of at least 6 months, either currently or at some point during the last five years. Please note mandatory volunteering activities (for example as part of a school program) are not eligible for this study.

This research is being conducted by psychology student Madeleine Clarke as part of her Honours degree at Charles Sturt University, and supervised by Dr Jenni Greig. Ethics approval code: H25148.

Interested in sharing your experiences? Email autisticvolunteers@gmail.com to access the full study details and reach me with any questions.

If you know somebody else who might be interested in this opportunity, please feel free to share this information :)
