Can someone help me with my pip appeal please

Hello there,

I hope everyone is doing well,

I just would like to asked a quick question, I received a message about my pip appeal and I quote:

“DWP has told us they changed their decision about your entitlement to PIP in your favour. We've therefore closed this appeal.

If you don't agree with their new decision you can start a new appeal.

If you have any questions relating to benefits, contact DWP. You can find their contact details on any correspondence you've received from them.

PIP Appeals”

My question is, is this a generic message or would I have to appeal?

From what you've described it sounds like your claim has been reviewed which means you have been awarded PIP or given a better outcome than before so your appeal has been closed because it's no longer necessary to go to a tribunal😊

I thought they were meant to ask you if you agree with their decision before closing the case.

You may disagree with it.

I called the pip line today and they have changed my award in my favour. But they only added an extra year which is only giving me 3 years.
so I guess I will be appealing again, as my old award was 7 years.

Unfortunately I wasn’t given the opportunity to agree on it. I only received an email and text message stating my pip appeal has been closed. Because the Dwp changed their decision.
