Savings on UC
Hello All,
I’ve been on Universal Credit since April now, since migrating from ESA. It’s mostly been ok, but I’ve noticed something odd that I missed previously. I declared, during the process that I had £4 K in savings, that’s in a credit union account & you don’t get interest on it.
Just looked at the latest payment period & it says that I have £4.701 in savings. Where has this £700 come from? I did ask on this forum what DWP classed as “savings”, I thought I’d saved it, but can’t locate it now. I believe it said it counted separate savings accounts & what’s in your current account? The only thing that there is, some weeks when a UC monthly payment goes in, the New Style ESA & or PIP (not always at the same time)there will be a few hundred, before bills, PayPal payments go out. Could it be for this? It didn’t happen with ESA support group & I suppose this is another reason they want all people claiming benefits, on UC, as they have more control 😡
