PIP Update

I posted a couple weeks ago saying I'd been through assessment on 15th July and was waiting for the outcome. I got a phone call on 5th August telling me they were 'increasing' my award from standard on both, to enhanced on both. But I had to wait for the letter arriving. I got that letter Monday gone, but have been struggling with my mental health due to the stress of it all, as well as a fibro flare, ear infections in both ears, and now a stomach infection (caused by IBS). Still not 100% but getting there…

Anyway, my letter states that they looked at my claim again. My last award for five years, standard on both, ended February 2025. So I assumed once they'd accepted my health had gotten worse, they'd backdate to then. But the letter states they're backdating to July 2024, after they spoke to my GP, Psychiatrist, and other health professionals. So they'll backdate the 'extra' from then, until now. I was told I would receive a letter explaining this but none came. So I called them Thursday and was told it was still in their 'to do' list so she's going to personally sort that out for me this week. I also asked if this was the result of the review because it doesn't say that on the letter. All it says is 'we have looked at your claim again' and I know there was a change in the law and a lot of cases were being looked at, so I wondered if mine was one of them. She told me this was the result of the review and assessment on 15th July.

I was granted five years of enhanced on both, due to reports from professionals. And my first enhanced payment goes in on 20th August. I'm just so pleased - and a little overwhelmed, that I don't have to fight them this time around. So glad this is over with, for now. If only they knew how much strain it puts on us when we have to go through so much stress!

Thank you for updating about your experience on here. I am so very pleased for you and I hope that over the coming days your flare-up and infections starts to improve and that you're able to relax more. The stress of it all really takes a toll! Take good care of yourself.
