Now the Conservatives want your Mobility car

It just flashed up on my news feed, if the Conservatives win the next election they want to cut back on who has a mobility car

I think like with most of these there's a grain of truth in among the sensationalism.
I've noticed that you can get some quite expensive cars. What the article doesn't point out is you have to make quite a reasonable contribution to them.
Also just because a car retails for £50k doesn't mean it's worth that. Lots of electric £50k cars are heavily discounted and selling for £35k at the moment. Motability, with the volume of cars they order, probably get them even cheaper than that
All that said I was very surprised to see I could get a relatively fast car under Motability. I'm hugely grateful for my car, like many it's a lifeline, but I was shocked I could get the fastest model in the range. It's the same car so all the disability-related specs are the same, it's just faster, so why do I need it? I'm aware there are limitless types of disability so maybe that's unfair to say. Of course I chose the fastest one (and love it) so I'm a slight hypocrite but if I was only offered the basic model I'd still be more than grateful.

They have very little chance of winning a general election.

Surely PIP is assessed already and if the individual is found to have poor mobility to receive enhanced PIP “getting around” – they are entitled to use Motability ?
So Torys are planning on having another layer of assessments ?
They want us all to drive ….

I handed my car back early, because I needed to get a powerchair instead.
I too couldn't believe that a VW Polo GTI was on offer. Needless to say, I was tempted and took this unsuitable, low riding, hot hatch! (200+bhp).
A basic model VW Polo would have served just as well, but I am only human and threw caution to the wind.

Kemi Badenoch has no economic policies, she only focuses on sensational social or cultural issues, which is her comfort zone. She should know that elections are won on the economy and nothing else.

Not even Disney mural Jenrick's revenue protection officer antics? 😉

I wonder whether it was not you who dug this clip up to embarrass Jenrick, the miserable clown!

Its already only for people with severe mobility problems, anyone who thinks e.g. 50m limitation isnt severe needs looking at.
These type of articles is why the press need regulating.
