My Sister

Hi to all,
On the 2nd of Sept I have to go to Sheffield hospital for my Sister who has mental health probs & poss dementia she has a gynecological problem i don't know the nature of till I go to see the consultant but I was only told of this today.
I haven't been given much notice I guess because it urgent so what do I say how do I respond very difficult for me to hear they also want to know if we have a person in place to sort out her finances ect which we don't I don't know how to approach this as she is 79 next week and is a long term smoker all her life.
I hope it won't be bad news but I suspect it will be because of her health.

Hi @amazingblazing628 I'm really sorry to read about your sister's situation. It must be incredibly hard hitting for you finding this out, and things moving so quickly. The questions you've mentioned might be best asked at the consultation once you know a bit more about the full situation as they may have an idea of what's needed depending on the circumstances. A care needs assessment - Apply for a needs assessment by social services - GOV.UK or Age UK | The UK's leading charity helping every older person who needs us might be good places to start looking into if you did want to.
I hope the consultation goes ok and you have some support from other friends/family during this time. You always have us here, too. Please let us know how things go if you're comfortable doing that. 💛
