Liver trasnplant second hand smoking

I get that non smokers like myself are sensitive to smoke, but I had been wondering why I was constantly feeling unwell because my next door neighbours have been chain smoking on my fence. Vape and cigarette smoke come into my garden and into the house and unless I have all my doors and windows closed during summer, it has been making me feel increasingly unwell.

So I tried googling it, yeah, I know, google should not replace a doctor, but I was not aware that there was actually a problem.

"Secondhand smoke is associated with increased post-liver transplant complications and reduced survival, with potential links to biliary issues, graft rejection, and thrombosis

Studies show secondhand smoke can disrupt immune tolerance, elevate overall mortality, and promote fatty liver disease. "

I live in a Council house, but the Council say they can't do anything about it because the next door neighbour is not a Council tenant, has anyone had experience with this, any ideas what I should do?

At the moment I just keep all my doors and windows closed and ignore them, but it becomes a problem everytime I need to water the garden for example.

Neighbours have a huge garden, but insist on smoking right on my fence.

You can contact your local council environmental health department.

But they are smoking in the open air with a high level of ventilation, so consider whether the studies you are looking at may be focusing on the effects of second hand smoking in a closed, less ventilated environment.

I'm not saying it isn't a nuisance, and still may be making you feel unwell, but you might not need to be as worried as you are.

Do you not have other rooms on an opposite side away from the location they are smoking, where you can open the windows etc?

Just for reference, vapes don't produce smoke. They heat water to produce steam.

I appreciate how much impact this can have though. I've had a few neighbours that smoke 'funny cigs' close to my property. To the point where I have to keep doors and windows and even trickle vents closed in the heat. Nothing I can do about it though, just part of living in flats so closely to other people unfortunately. I'm sure I do things that irritate other people as well.

Unfortunately it is not just one person lighting up it is a group of them, they are doing it deliberately, front and back, whenever I open my windows or doors it is there to greet me, and it is not flats it is bungalows and their bungalow is much bigger than mine, 3 bedrooms, and has a huge area, at least 6 times the size of my back garden/yard, when I moved here only she smoked and only on the other side of their yard, but now she and her group of friends and family are all smoking on the edge of my fence.

She is like the queen bee who expects lip service from everyone in her clique, I didn't appreciate their loud parties, music blaring out, fireworks, dogs running up and down my fence antagonising my puppy and their dog smashing my fence and biting my dog.

Instead she spreads malicious gossip behind my back, I have heard from the people who help walk my dog, that she has now spread the rumour that my puppy bit through the fence breaking it and bit her dog on the nose, planks face me, she would have to be a woodpecker to get through instead the fence was broken from the other side, instead of an apology all I get is grief.

I have been ignoring them, thinking even her clique wouldn't be dumb enough to believe her, but apparently I was wrong, so they have been doing their level best to ostrasize me. Fortunately I have made friends with the other neighbours, but this is just the latest in a long list of issues, now she had found something that will definetly hurt me, she is digging in.

I have contacted the hospital and my GP to verify what I found online, and if it indeed it impacts my transplant, I will have to look at other action that I can take, maybe the police would be interested in someone poisoning me.

You people think of it as just smokking or just irritating second hand smoke but it is actually life threatening to me, if my graft fails and my body rejects my new liver I will die.
